Best Teas for Anxiety

Spring can be a busy time. The slow start of January and February is behind us, and the year is well on its way. Many of us may be tackling the mess and clutter of our homes, while others may be preparing for exam season which is fast approaching.

There are many things in our busy lives that can makes us feel anxious.

Taking time out of your day to sit down and relax with a calming cup of tea is an excellent way to reduce our stress and anxiety.

We have compiled a list of some of the best teas for anxiety, the host of health benefits they bring and how they promote overall wellness.

Is tea good for anxiety?

Tea is good for anxiety in many different ways.

Many herbal teas are associated with health benefits; and boosting your physical wellbeing is hugely important to overall mental health.

The process of taking time for oneself to prepare tea is itself beneficial. Making time in your day to take a break and rehydrate, to hold your hands around a cup and feel its reassuring warmth, inhale the aroma and slowly take the first sips is an easy way to relieve anxiety and tension.

Tea rituals have been incorporated into meditation practices in several East Asian countries such as Japan and China for its ability to calm the mind and improve focus.

It can be particularly calming to watch loose-leaf teas in a glass teapot or mug as they swirl around, infusing the water with their flavour and wonderful colour.

We at The Tea Makers offer plenty of teas which are good for anxiety.

What teas help with anxiety?

Many teas can help with anxiety. For example, many of our herbal blends are excellent ways to relieve anxiety.

Each tea comes with a host of health benefits that are good for both the body and the mind, whilst also being a delicious refreshment to brighten up your day.

Chamomile Tea

Chamomile tea is well known for aiding sleep, and this flower is high in flavones, an antioxidant which has been suggested to lower blood pressure.

Our Chamomile tea features gorgeous golden blossoms, which when brewed provide a light-yellow infusion.

Our Chamomile blossoms hail from the Croation countryside, where they are harvested during the springtime once the flowers have bloomed.

It has a gentle floral aroma, with fruity notes reminiscent of apple and pear. Most commonly enjoyed in the evening, a cup of chamomile tea is the perfect way to unwind after a long, stressful day, making it one of the best teas for anxiety. For those with a sweeter tooth, adding a dash of honey can be a real treat!

Peppermint tea

A macro pile of Peppermint Leaves Loose Leaf Tea

Peppermint tea can be beneficial for those who suffer from headaches and migraines. It is also frequently enjoyed as a digestif after a meal. Mint has been used throughout history to aid digestion, and so is a perfect option if you’re feeling a little bit full after dinner and need help relaxing for the night.

An invigorating brew which is perfect during the day and night, mint teas have been popular in northern Africa for centuries. Our peppermint is ideal in both cold and hot weather, and for those looking to maximise the refreshment factor can cold brew this tea. There aren’t many drinks more refreshing than Peppermint Tea!

Lemongrass and ginger

Ginger has antimicrobial qualities and can help in resisting colds and coughs, and the scent of lemongrass can help people with anxiety.

Both these ingredients come together in this warming, cleansing tea. A firm favourite for those who are feeling under the weather. Feeling ill and fatigued can often make anxiety worse, and one of the best ways to combat this is ensuring that you are in top health, particularly in the winter months.

Turmeric Spice

Turmeric is notable for its abundance of antioxidants. Key to much of turmeric’s salubrity is the chemical curcumin, which is a natural anti-inflammatory, and studies have suggested that this chemical can be beneficial in promoting both serotonin and dopamine.

Our Turmeric Spice contains all things that are nice! Turmeric and its associated health benefits may be a new trend in the west, but it has been used for generations in Ayurvedic medicine.

Rooibos Tea

It is a robust, full-bodied infusion which makes it an ideal caffeine-free substitute for breakfast tea and other black teas. This brew can be enjoyed with or without milk, however you prefer it.

A relative newcomer, this South African tea has been rapidly gaining popularity outside of its homeland in the last few decades, and it’s not hard to see why.

We offer our Organic Roobios, which is full-bodied brew with a hint of woodiness, and for those with a sweeter tooth we have our Organic Vanilla Rooibos

This is an excellent option for black tea drinkers looking to reduce their caffeine intake.

Relax more with Tea Makers

Whether enjoyed alone to de-stress in the evening or sharing a pot in the afternoon, tea has a host of potential health and social benefits which can be beneficial in tackling anxiety.

I’ve tried a range of the London Tea Company’s blends, and they really do have a calming effect. For unwinding after a tough day, the SANE tea with chamomile is my favorite. My everyday go-to is the Lemongrass and Ginger – it’s so refreshing! Peppermint after a meal is a must for me, it really soothes my digestion. Since I have rheumatoid arthritis, I also love their Turmeric Spice. I already take turmeric capsules, so the tea is an extra anti-inflammatory boost. It’s amazing how these teas from the London Tea Company help me manage some of my health issues.
